Introduction

PDO Threads

With the money, recovery time, and invasive nature involved, surgical procedures such as a Facelift or Neck Lift are a commitment. Not everyone feels comfortable going under the knife, which is completely understandable, but that shouldn’t mean that you’re stuck with an older-looking face. Threading is rapidly becoming a very popular procedure in place of invasive surgery.

At Pure by Alpha Dermatology, we strive to give our Bucks County patients in New Hope and Sellersville the best PDO Threads results and newfound confidence in themselves. For more information about this revolutionary procedure, please keep reading below for more information.

What Are
PDO Threads

Aesthetics Performed

PDO (polydioxanone) sutures help simulate your face by lifting and encouraging your body’s natural healing process. The threads are implanted directly into your skin tissue and pulled tight to give you a more youthful appearance, and due to the use of tiny needles in the deeper layers of your skin, your body is naturally stimulated to improve your regenerative process thanks to collagen production, which is an essential factor in skin health and growth.

PDO Thread Lift: A PDO Thread Lift is a minimally invasive procedure that lifts and tightens the skin, making it a great alternative to facelift surgery. It commonly treats aging skin in areas around the cheeks, jaw, neck, and eyes. PDO Thread Lift takes less than an hour and the refreshing youthful outcome is immediate, with results lasting 1 year or more. Not only does PDO create a lifted look instantly, but it also stimulates collagen production in the treated areas for a lasting increase in volume!

Smuth Threads: Smuth Threads stimulate collagen for lasting anti-aging results. They can be used anywhere on the face or body! Smuth Threads can be used as a standalone treatment to promote new collagen/elastin production or in combination with Barbed Threads for a full PDO Thread Lift. We often recommend a series of 3 to achieve optimal results

What’s the first step?

The first step in getting PDO Threads in New Hope and Sellersville is to contact Pure by Alpha Dermatology and schedule your consultation. During this appointment, you will meet with a member of our Aesthetic team and discuss what you hope to obtain from the treatment and ask any questions that you may have about the procedure. The Provider will ask you about your medical history so they make the best and safest decisions for you, which is why it is very important to be open and honest with them during this portion of your consultation. Finally, they will examine your face and see how PDO Threads can help you. Once they have all of the information they need, they will create your customized procedure plan. If you agree with the plan that is created for you, our Patient Coordinator will help you schedule the date and time for your treatment.

You will receive a list of directions to follow that will help you have a more successful PDO Threadlift procedure. This will include avoiding alcohol and tobacco use five days before, as well as not taking any medication that could increase the chance of bleeding or bruising (ibuprofen, aspirin, omega-3 fatty acids, green tea extracts, etc.).

What to Expect on the Day of Specialty PDO Threads

When you come into our Medical Spa on the day of your PDO Threads, you will be comfortably seated in a reclining chair. Your face will be disinfected with alcohol and a local anesthetic will be administered with a needle inserted under your skin. Precise areas are marked on your face using a temporary pen to strategically plot out the thread placement.

After the anesthesia takes effect, the Provider will make a tiny incision with a needle and insert a device called a cannula (a very thin tube) into the hole. Then, a thread will be anchored in place by grabbing at the loose tissue and pulling out the cannula, which lifts the skin tighter. Finally, the thread is secured and cut. This process will be repeated several times depending on where you need the lift the most.

This process can take anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes.

PDO Threads Recovery

After your treatment, you will be able to return to your daily routines, however, you should be very careful to avoid any aggressive or strenuous movements. You can expect to have some swelling and bruising during the first 24 – 48 hours. Please avoid rubbing your face as much as possible, especially during the first week after your procedure to avoid dislodging the thread. It is also strongly recommended to avoid pursing your lips, smoking, or drinking through a straw for the first several weeks.

We strongly recommend avoiding sleeping on your side for the first one to two weeks, as well as intense exercise or visiting saunas. If you sleep with a pillow propped under your head, this could help avoid accidentally rolling onto your face in the middle of the night.

The results were amazing. I strongly believe that a good filler job means you can’t spot a filler job and she nailed it. I look like me, but more refreshed and younger!
